Tariel Iberi

Guitarist-composer Tariel Iberi is a native of Georgia who studied at the M. Lysenko Lviv State Conservatoire in Ukraine, and established guitar studies at the V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire in Georgia. His music is unique in its presentation of the sparkling riches of Georgian music in the medium of the guitar and in its synthesis of elements from Western and Georgian music in a broad range of styles. He has written solo and ensemble works in numerous genres, including concertos, sonatas, suites, theme and variations, prelude and fugues, character pieces, and dances, and also he has written a fourteen-volume Georgian Guitar Method.His works have been performed in Iowa, Chicago, South Carolina, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York. Tariel Iberi is one of those rare classical guitarists who gives concerts entirely of his own music. He has given recitals and master classes in Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, and the United States. He has also lectured on Georgian guitar music in New York and at several guitar festivals in the United States.
In USA, Tariel has worked for years at Central College, Pella and Kirkwood Community College in Iowa.In 2021 he held a solo concert of his own music in the Opera House in Kutaisi(Georgia), as well a lecture “Georgian Guitar Music”, workshop and masterclass. In 2023 his former student Eka Jafaridze founded in Georgia, Guitar music festival “IBERI”, where Tariel present a solo concert of his own music, a lecture “Georgia guitar music”, as well workshop, and masterclass. He currently resides in New York City.

In 2024, he held a concert of solo guitar music and a Rock Concertofor Guitar, Strings, and Drums at the University of Iowa School of Mu-
sic. In 2025, a concert of his orchestral music was held in Kutaisi,Georgia, including his Rock Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra, for
which he was the soloist.
He currently resides in New York City.
